The stereotype that artists are reclusive is untrue – at least during Arts Open. Over two weekends Castlemaine's large body of artists will throw open their doors to inquisitive guests. Ever wanted to discover what goes on in a working artist studio? This is your chance.
Get a first-hand look at the workshops of jewellers, painters, sculptors and other local artisans from the regions of Castlemaine and the rest of the surrounding Mount Alexander Shire. Some well known artists who've already signed on to participate include David Frazer and Catherine Pilgrim and you'll also be able to purchase works directly from artists. This event happens only once every two years so if you miss it, you'll have to wait till 2020.
