The acclaimed Australian photographer will make a rare public appearance at The Greenery Garden

Don’t miss the revered Australian art photographer Bill Henson as he makes a rare public appearance at The Greenery Garden and Home in Heidelberg this February. As part of the ‘In Conversation’ event, Henson will speak on various topics, from the Paris Opera Project series, his passion for gardening and more.

Henson’s photographic portfolio is distinguished by his visual exploration of twilight zones and a Caravaggio-inspired use of chiaroscuro. Through carefully positioned lighting and techniques like bokeh blurring, flattened perspective and underexposed negatives, Henson captures darkly enigmatic photographs that have been exhibited worldwide.

Now one of Australia’s leading contemporary photographers, Henson was born in Melbourne in 1955 and studied visual arts and design at the Prahran College of Advanced Education. While Henson may have failed to complete his degree, it was his first solo exhibition in 1975 that launched a career that would take his work to the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Venice Biennale.

Taking place on the the second Wednesday of every month, ‘In Conversation’ is a Q&A-style event held by The Greenery Garden and Home that features artists and inspirational creatives within the community. The event with Bill Henson will occur on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, with the interview from 6:30 pm to 7 pm, followed by food and drinks and a chance to meet the man behind the camera.

Tickets are $30 and include drinks and food, and you can buy them and find out more here.
