Time Out says

More than 30 first nations artists from south east Australia present work exploring self-determination, identity, sovereignty and resistance

An incredible, diverse line-up artists feature in this group show curated by ACCA artistic director Max Delany and Paola Balla (Wemba-Wemba and Gunditjmara).

Inspired by 19th century Ngurungaeta Elder and Wurundjeri leader William Barak, who was a prominent artist as well as an activist, leader, diplomat and translator, Sovereignty blends craft-based art practice with contemporary art, hip hop, film and activism.

Historical artworks and films will sit alongside activist works and new commissions by artists including Brook Andrew, Jim Berg, Maree Clark, Vicky Couzens, Destiny Deacon and Virginia Fraser, Gary Foley, Kent Morris, Steaphan Paton, Reko Rennie and Steven Rhall.
