Harry and Frankie, showing you a wine old time by the bay
The kind of neighbourhood haunt you'd consider moving suburbs for, Harry and Frankie is a pitch-perfect blend of bottle shop and wine bar. Sommeliers and owners Tom Hogan and John Tennent have cherry-picked more than 600 wines for their sleek Port Melbourne store. Expect interesting imports (Austrian rieslings; Italian aglianico), biodynamic champions and minimal-intervention Australian drops, plus crowd-pleasing classics from the Old and New Worlds.
Swing by to pick up a bottle before dinner, or make Harry and Frankie's the main event, selecting a wine to enjoy in-house, plus a corkage fee. You don't have to commit to a whole 750ml, either, with by-the-glass options, plus craft beers and summery spritzes. On the food front, expect a short and sharp line in bistro classics, such as beef tartare or braised chicken, plus charcuterie boards that are perfect for sharing.
