On any day of the week, there are plenty of reasons to head to this Church Street institution. There's the big leafy beer garden (which fully accommodates dogs), warm community vibes, friendly staff, and of course, the specials. These sweet deals range from $16 parmas on Thursdays to the $7 happy hour on Fridays from 4-7pm – but we reckon that one of the biggest drawcards has to be their Saturday and Sunday specials.

On Saturdays, you and your mates will score a complimentary bottle of bubbles if you book a table for four or more before 5pm (it's super easy to book online, too). Once you've arrived at your table, the hard part will be choosing what to eat: you could go for pub classics with gourmet twists like fish and chips, a beef burger with fries or parmesan and walnut-crumbed veal – or something a little different like a pan-fried lemon ricotta gnocchi or chicken tortilla. Make sure you save room for dessert, because it'll be hard to refuse Belgian chocolate mousse with frangelico strawberries or cinnamon-dusted bombolini with hazelnut and chocolate dipping sauce.

Prince Alfred also knows that the best way to cap off the weekend is with a hearty roast – so that's exactly what they're offering on Sundays. From noon until 9pm, you and the fam can tuck into a $25 roast (with two cuts to choose from). From 3pm onwards, there'll even be live acoustic tunes to really complete the atmosphere.
