Time Out says

After 18 months of redevelopment, the award-winning Kilderkin Distillery opened its new location, just a five-minute drive from the Ballarat CBD. The distillery door is housed inside an old warehouse in Mount Pleasant and focuses just as much on education as it does on libation.

Distillers Chris Pratt and Rebecca Mathews conduct regular tours and educational sessions, talking directly with visitors about the vapour infusion process used to make Kilderkin’s artisan gins.

All of Kilderkin’s Larrikin range of gins are distilled, hand bottled and labelled in Ballarat. From the Original Larrikin Australian Dry gin to the Barrel-Aged, Sunburnt Country and Lola Bold varieties, there’s sure to be something to suit your taste. The Buccaneer Navy Strength gin was judged the top Victorian gin at the 2020 Australian Distilled Spirits Awards, so it’s well worth a taste.

The new venue’s exposed brick walls and long wooden tables create an inviting atmosphere to sit down with friends for a tasting, a cocktail and a snack. Set off on a gin flight and choose up to four gins or liqueurs to taste alongside your choice of mixers. You can follow it up with a cheese platter showcasing local producers, or some snacks like nuts, olives or Chappy’s kettle-cooked potato chips.

The Kilderkin Distillery door is open Thursday to Sunday 11am-5pm and till 7pm on Fridays.
