Time Out says

Need a break from bustling Fed Square? Transport Hotel is only too happy to pour you a glass and cook you a pizza

Transport Hotel is a venue with many faces. Weekday evenings bring plenty of suits and stilettos through the doors; weekend afternoons attract families and tourists hungry for lunch; and game days at the ‘G have Transport heaving with fans and footy colours (those two massive flat screens are a great asset for those unlucky enough to miss out on match tickets).

It’s not just the big screens and location that make Transport Hotel a favourite for sports fans. The sizeable bar has 18 varieties of beer and cider on tap, including some crafty brews like Furphy, Little Creatures, White Rabbit and Mountain Goat. Throw in the bar’s healthy list of local and international bottled brews and you’ve got almost 50 varieties to choose from.

The pièce de resistance? Transport Hotel carries both sparkling white and Pimm’s on tap. It’s not many venues that cater for both dyed-in-the-wool sports fanatics and the hashtag-heavy brunch brigade, and yet Transport have nailed the brief.

The bar’s ‘all-are-welcome’ approach extends to the menu as well. Those hankering for a hefty chicken parma or chunky burger will leave full and happy, but so too will guests seeking a cheese and charcuterie board with their post-work wine. The menu seesaws between pub favourites and lighter meals – it’s where mussels coated with Napoli sauce and goat’s cheese arancini sit comfortably next to crisp fish and chips, porterhouse steaks and stone-fired pizzas.

Want to people watch? Grab a drink and head to the south-facing beer garden, where you can sit at the bench and gawk at the crowds walking past the river.
