2 Dachshund 2 Furious: the Annual Dachshund Race returns

Dachshund Race Hophaus

Sausage dogs may not have the aerodynamic build of greyhounds but damn it, they'll scuttle to the finish line if they have to. And they'll do it in an adorable hotdog costume to boot. Following on from last year's hugely popular event, the running of the wieners returns to Hophaus Southgate for Oktoberfest on Saturday September 24 from 11am to 2pm as part of a five-week program includes bier feasts, trivia nights, and more.

The Teckelrennen Annual Dachshund Race will see Hophaus team up again with online retailer My Dachshund Online and raise money for Dachshund Rescue Australia. Over 70 dogs are already registered to pound the pavement for the race, which will include 12 heats along a 15-metre racetrack. Don't forget costumes, the 'Best Dressed Dachshund' award is possibly the most sought after award in the event – last year's contenders for best costume included a doggy pilot, Melbourne trams, and lifeguard.

Get set, ready, start training those tiny sausage legs!
