This cinema contains a slippery slide in case, you know, the movie's boring

UPDATE: Turns out you're not allowed to use the slippery slide during the actual movie – Village Cinemas have informed us it's "strictly before the movie and during intermission". Colour us #disappointed but it's good to have clarity on these things – ed.

Kids have always had short attention spans – you can't blame that on iPads and fidget spinners – and following on from Vjunior at Village Cinemas Westfield Southland (the world's first cinema designed for kids by kids) comes another Vjunior at Westfield Fountain Gate, also containing an indoor slide inside the auditorium.

Yep, there are now two cinemas where kids hopped up on Jaffas and Fanta can work off all the excitement generated by the antics of the Minions, or those talking cars, and jump on a slippery slide during intermission.

Created in partnership with Mattel's Hot Wheels brand, the new cinema has bean bag seating as well as traditional seating; a special kids' menu; a Mega Bloks play wall; and a Barbie photo booth. And for parents coping with all this over-stimulation there's a coffee cart, thank Bejesus.

(Actually, we're a bit excited by the idea of a slide to get the blood pumping back in the legs. With a new Transformers epic here, something is needed, let's face it.)

The new Vjunior Fountain Gate is opening at the end of June, with another at the Village Cinemas Knox scheduled for late September.

Watch a movie in Melbourne tonight.
