Time Out says

Enjoy a rollicking good night of music, cabaret, burlesque and comedy in this variety show

Update 23/06/2020: This event has been postponed. Visit Arts Centre Melbourne's website for more details.

Arts Centre Melbourne is reopening on June 27 and it’s wasting no time getting audiences back into theatres and artists back on the stage, announcing a weekly variety night hosted by singer extraordinaire Ali McGregor.

Ali McGregor’s Late-Nite-Variety-Nite Night is set to be a raucous event showcasing everything from cabaret and burlesque, to comedy and music. As part of the performance, Arts Centre Melbourne’s Playhouse theatre will be turned into the Playhouse Lounge, a cosy salon style space where you’ll even be able to share the stage with the artists themselves.

Speaking of artists, Ali McGregor’s Late-Nite-Variety-Nite Night has lined up quite a number. Guests across the four-week season include Eddie Perfect, Dilruk Jayasinha, Thando, Geraldine Hickey and Dane Simpson. Plus the superstar voice of (former Opera Australia soprano) McGregor of course.

Included in your ticket price is a glass of bubbles on arrival and an antipasto platter to share with your group.

The variety show will run twice a night every Saturday from June 27 until July 18, giving Melbourne one of its first tastes of real life theatre in an unholy number of weeks. The event was one of the first shows to be cancelled during the initial March shutdowns – as such, its relaunch feels like a cheery ray of hope for Melbourne’s embattled live performance industry.

Tickets for Ali McGregor’s Late-Nite-Variety-Nite Night are available online now.
