Time Out says

Rewatch John Hughes' 1980s teen classics

Writer and director John Hughes is responsible for some of the 1980s best and most enduring coming-of-age films, and Lido Cinemas is celebrating some of the best pre-Mean Girls teen flicks with a John Hughes retrospective.

Every Sunday in August Lido will be screening Hughes classics starting from Pretty in Pink on August 6, followed by Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club and Some Kind of Wonderful.

If you're old enough to remember watching any of these movies, you would remember how Hughes pretty much cast the mold for many American high school films to come. The Breakfast Club took a rag-tag bunch featuring "a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal" and turned them into a representation of the high school ecosystem, while Pretty in Pink might have been your first introduction to killer 1980s alt-pop tunes.

You can get tickets online now through the Lido Cinemas website.
