Three ways to have a fun family day out at Chadstone – The Fashion Capital

This January, Chadstone is a one-stop shop for all-ages fun

Keeping the kids entertained over the holidays is no easy feat. However, this summer there’s one place where they can explore, be entertained and fed all under the one gridshell roof. Chadstone – The Fashion Capital is running fun activations throughout January that include a new Legoland exhibition, while movies and family meals are always on the table. And if you manage to get some shopping done while you’re there, that’s a bonus.

It can be a mission ferrying around little ones, but one surefire way to distract them while kicking up your own feet is with a movie. Hoyts Chadstone has extra wide and comfy recliners perfect for sinking into with a choc top in hand. There are a number of family-friendly releases out these school holidays, including The Addams Family 2 – part of the animated franchise of the beloved black comedy – and Koati, an adorable new animation about a family of exotic creatures from the Latin American rainforests. If that’s not enough excitement, there’s also 3D and Xtremescreen sessions to try.

Water is wet, the sky is blue, and kids love Lego. Satiate that love with a trip to Legoland Discovery Centre, where they can be enthralled by a mini-Melbourne made of Lego (complete with Lego Chadstone – The Fashion Capital!), watch 4D films and save princesses aboard a laser ride. From January 18-27 they can also embark on the new Underwater Quest experience where they’ll become deep-sea divers for the day. Visitors will learn to create their own Lego stop motion films, build sea creatures and post for a happy snap with a huge Lego Shark Suit Guy. After completing all the activities on offer, kids will be given their very own ‘Diver’s License’ to take home.

3. Feed hungry mouths

End your big day out with a crowd-pleasing meal at one of Chadstone’s many dining precincts. Even the pickiest eaters will find something to nosh on with more than 95 outlets covering every cuisine and taste. Hit up Food Central on the Lower Ground floor for a quick casual bite, with options including souvlaki from Hella Good and spicy noodles from Dainty Sichuan. Over at the airy new Food Atrium, there’s popular joints such as Gami Korean fried chicken and beef rice bowls from Omi. If it’s a nice sunny day, opt for an alfresco table at one of the restaurants in Dining Laneway, where you’ll find favourites like Grill’d burgers and Pappa Rich. Finally, on the Dining Terrace upstairs there’s a choice selection of casual dine-in restaurants ranging from New Shanghai to Fonda.
