Legoland Discovery Centre
Time Out says
Everything is awesome at this Lego playground
Lego's first Legoland Discovery Centre in the southern hemisphere landed in Melbourne back in 2017. Occupying a massive space (2800 sqm) at Chadstone Shopping Centre, the brick-filled play centre will delight little and big Lego fans. The space is packed with more than two million Lego bricks and features attractions including Miniland Melbourne where the city's best-known landmarks has been recreated out of thousands of Lego bricks. There are also play zones for the kids and Lego-themed rides called Kingdom Quest and Merlin's Apprentice.
There is also a 4D cinema (it’s a sensory cinematic adventure – the wind will actually blow in your hair) on site so you can rewatch your favourite Lego movies on the big screen, and a Lego factory tour.
Intended for kids and families, it’s also a cool spot for grown-ups. Have you played with Lego in recent years? It’s as much fun now as when you were a kid, except for the fact that your skills are probably better and you’re more likely to acquit a feat of engineering genius. Test your skills at the Creative Workshops and see how you fare against fellow Lego fans, or visit the Lego store to get some bricks to take home.
Legoland Discovery Centre reopens to the public on June 4, 2020 following advice from the Victorian chief medical officer. All guests (including annual pass holders) will need to pre-book their timeslot in advance online. The venue will be cashless and the daily capacity has been reduced to allow for physical distancing. Enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced to disinfect frequent touchpoints, plus the venue has an industrial cleaning machine to clean Lego bricks three times per day.
