The renowned Hermannsburg Potters from the Northern Territory have joined with the NGV International to present Our Land Is Alive: Hermannsburg Potters For Kids, a unique exhibition that brings together their iconic style of handcrafted pottery and defining moments from AFL history.
The exhibition presents an NGV commission of 20 AFL-themed Hermannsburg pots depicting defining moments for Aboriginal players in the AFL, like the celebrated image of Nicky Winmar lifting his shirt and pointing to the colour of his skin.
Children and grown-ups alike can experience hands-on activities and meet with some of the Hermannsburg potters themselves, who are currently resident artists at the NGV.
