Time Out says

Follow the hitch hiking snail's journey

Follow a tiny snail's journey in this live theatre event as she travels across the seas aboard a humpback whale. Together they explore the high seas, meeting penguins and sharks and tackling icebergs and volcanoes. But when the tiny snail's whale buddy finds himself beached, how will the snail save her giant friend?

This performance is based on the award-winning story The Snail and the Whale by beloved children’s author Julia Donaldson and Alex Scheffler (the creators of The Gruffalo).

Inspired by the not-for-profit Storybook Soldiers initiative, which helps British service men and women record bedtime stories on CDs for their kids, the UK children’s theatre group Tall Stories have respectfully and lovingly adapted Donaldson’s book for the stage. Tall Stories have a special affinity for Donaldson’s work, having previously adapted The Gruffalo for the stage. In this production, the story is told through the eyes of an adventurous little girl who dreams of travelling the world with her seafaring father.

The Snail and the Whale has already toured everywhere from the UK, US, France and Canada to Bermuda, getting kudos everywhere it lands. Time Out Sydney gave it four stars, describing it as a "heart-warming adaptation... with songs, sensitivity and imagination”.

All of the music and sound effects are created live during the performance. Expect good tunes, a lot of laughs and some gentle, but captivating story telling.

Suitable for ages four and up.
