This summer, Prahran's historic performance space transforms into an intimate live music hub
You know Chapel off Chapel as one of the southside's best arts venues – but are you aware that it has also played host to the likes of Coldplay, Foo Fighters and Noel Gallagher? This summer, Chapel off Chapel, in association with Prahran-based music booking agency 123 Agency, will continue its fine musical history with a series of summer sessions featuring top Aussie and international artists.
The series kicks off on Thursday, January 21 with Darren Middleton (best known as the guitarist and songwriter for Powderfinger) and Jon Toogood (founding member of New Zealand's Shihad). Next is Ash Grunwald (Fri Jan 22), who will no doubt treat audiences to songs from his new album NOW.
A highlight of the series is sure to be Abbe May (Sat Jan 23); the rocking songwriter and vocalist who never fails to ignite on stage.
It doesn't end there: other artists include acoustic-folk singer Nathan Hawes (Sun Jan 24), Thando (Fri Jan 29, pictured), who brought the house down earlier this year in her performance as Effie White in StageArt's Dreamgirls, and Woodlock (Sat Jan 30); a Kiwi trio, now based in Melbourne.
Tickets start from $20, and are cheaper if you book online. Get in fast; these intimate gigs will fill up fast.
