Time Out says

The brooding, bluesy Melbourne-based artist returns to the stage this autumn

After a not-so-great 2018, Melbourne’s own swaggery, soulful singer-songwriter Dan Sultan is back. A deliberate six months on the bench seems to have paid off for Sultan, who’s embarking on a regional tour of Australia.

The Aviary Takes eases Sultan back into the spotlight with a collection of his existing back catalogue songs and new tracks. While fans are likely keen to hear bluesy hits like ‘The Same Man’ and ‘Under Your Skin’, we recommend going just to hear the new, stripped-back songs that Sultan has been working on, which were notably recorded in one vocal take. He’ll also be performing a couple of unexpected cover songs.

This a regional tour, so if you’re snugly ensconced in the inner city you’ll have to trek a little further out than you’re probably used to. Consider it an adventure and remember your friends who permanently live in the ‘burbs have to make the opposite journey far more often.

Dan Sultan is playing at Sooki Lounge in Belgrave on March 22 and at Knox Community Arts Centre in Bayswater on March 23. He’s also playing a show in Bendigo on March 16 if you find yourself in the area. Tickets on sale now.
