Ludovico Einaudi has the distinction of being the world’s most streamed classical artist. He boasts more than 400,000 Spotify followers and celebrity fans ranging from Nicki Minaj to Ricky Gervais. And even if you’re unfamiliar with his name, chances are you know his rippling, piano-based work, which has appeared in countless advertisements and several feature films, notably the most successful French movie of all time, The Intouchables.
Einaudi has performed to audiences in famous outdoor venues including the 22,000-seat Waldbuhne Berlin, the 14,000-seat Verona Arena and even the Roman Caracalla Baths. On Saturday January 25 he brings his Seven Days Walking tour to Sidney Myer Music Bowl, his first ever outdoor performance in Australia.
What is behind Einaudi’s extraordinary success as a contemporary classical performer? Perhaps it's the fact his meditative music speaks directly to the listener with pure emotions such as joy, desire and loss. His work encompasses wide-ranging influences from neo-classical and ambient to pop, rock, folk and experimental forms.
Seven Days Walking is an epic project – seven albums of music released over the course of seven months in 2019. Einaudi will perform highlights from these albums and from his extraordinary four-decade career. He will be accompanied by Redi Hasa on cello and Federico Mecozzi on violin and viola.
