No man, beast nor microscopic agent can sate Melbourne’s appetite for live music. We might not be able to be there in person, but we can still experience music live through streaming.
After its first successful online concert with Kate Ceberano on Sunday, April 5, Memo Music Hall is hosting another round of livestreamed concerts. The St Kilda venue has partnered with Renegade Films (the team behind RocKwiz) to beam two more livestreamed concerts into the homes of Melburnians (and beyond). These concerts had already been planned but were hastened due to the current temporary venue closures.
Memo have also looped in Australia's long-running ABBA tribute act BABBA for what is billed as the ultimate ABBA pyjama party. On June 6 Memo will relive the 1970s and the timeless disco beats of ABBA via livestream – meaning yes, you can enjoy the event in your pjs (though flares and Pina Coladas are also encouraged we presume). Tickets are $12.
Due to the size of Memo, artists can perform live in the space and still maintain the two metres of distance required by authorities. Money from ticket sales is equally split between the artists, Memo and Renegade Films.
