Whether you want to dance the night away to electronic beats or chill out with some cool afternoon soul and blues, there's nothing quite like a venue with live music. Melbourne is the live music capital of the world, after all, with one in four Melburnians going to a gig every single week of the year. And if you're looking for a bar in Melbourne CBD with live music every weekend, you should head to Transport Bar in Fed Square.

Kick off the weekend right with knock-off drinks at Transport on Friday nights. Not only are there a whopping 17 beers on tap and a long list of wines, cocktails and bottled beers, but there is also a six-hour DJ set to keep your toes tapping all night. The music is an energised mix of sounds and styles ranging from RnB, soul and rap to funk and disco, and guaranteed to get you moving.

Heading into the city to check out the latest exhibition at the NGV, take in a show at the Arts Centre or watch live theatre at MTC on a Saturday? Head to Transport before or afterwards to enjoy late afternoon live blues and soul music. It's the perfect way to wind down after a day of art, or to chill out before heading to the theatre or an evening performance. Enjoy stone-fired pizzas, share a charcuterie platter with friends or go for pub classics like schnitzel or steak while listening to some of the best musicians in Melbourne. After the sun sets and you're in the mood for something a bit rowdier, Transport has you covered with DJ sets to keep you dancing all night. The bar is open until 1am, so you can keep the party going late.

End the weekend on a high with late afternoon blues and funk every Sunday. Sunday sessions are the perfect way to ease back into the week, and chill vibes and excellent tunes are the perfect antidote to Sunday sads.

Don't let the cold weather put you off – Transit, Transport's rooftop bar, is open all winter, with plenty of heaters to keep the elements away. Live music can be found at Transit from Thursday to Sunday, every week. On Thursday nights, Transit is the perfect place to chill out (while keeping warm!), with piano soloists playing jazz and blues all evening. On Fridays and Saturdays there are both early and late live shows, meaning you can go to a show at one of the nearby arts venues and still catch a two-hour set at Transit. Live music goes all the way until 1am on Friday and Saturday, so you can drink in the views and boogie until the wee hours to live jazz, blues and soul music. And on Sundays you can sip a wine, beer or cocktail and listen to live accoustic, all afternoon.

All shows at Transport are free. Keep up to date with what's coming up on Transport's website
