When Cherry Bar closed its doors for the last time at the end of March it was the end of an era. Even though the bar would be relocating, it would be the last time punters could get messy at the famous (or maybe that should be infamous) AC/DC Lane location. Or was it?
Starting Friday, May 3 Cherry Bar will be opening at its AC/DC Lane digs for a limited time. Like a phoenix from the ashes of a rollie, Cherry Bar is turning the lights back on and playing live music from 5pm to 5am on Friday and Saturday nights.
The backflip comes due to what the bar describes as red tape regarding the settlement of the property. In a post on its Facebook page, Cherry Bar said it was "sick and tired of paying rent on a closed and viable live music venue in Melbourne".
"Fuck it! We’re re-opening Cherry Bar next weekend. See you there. The bitch is back!"
It’s currently uncertain how long Cherry Bar will be able to remain open in this limited fashion, so don’t put off your night out. The bar is still to announce the new venue for Cherry.
