Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes of Melbourne Zoo? Now’s your chance to find out. Zoos Victoria is creating its first podcast series, which will tell the untold stories of the people who devote their lives to animals.

The series, titled Fauna, will give animal lovers across the country backstage access to the reality of working at Melbourne Zoo, Werribee Zoo and Healesville Sanctuary, especially in regards to the work they do with animal welfare and conservation.

The seven-part series will cover topics as wide-reaching as how they help injured marine life to how the team goes about evacuating a zoo, as well as insight into (and the challenges they face when) fighting animal extinction.

Fauna’s first episode, ‘Animal Smarts’, launched last week and is a fun and insightful look into the often-uncredited intelligence of some animals. Following episodes to look out for include shining a spotlight on fairy possums, as well as learning about some of the zoo’s VIPs (including one very important parrot).

You can find out more and listen to Fauna here.

ICYMI TedXMelbourne has announced its first round of speakers.

Plus, here's how to get Harry Potter and the Cursed Child tickets in Melbourne.
