Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

Could Preston take the title for the city's best burger?

It was only a matter of time before the citywide burger stoush came to Preston.

Their contender? The Chew: 190g of wagyu beef, saddled by cos lettuce, tomato, pickle, mustard and cheddar. It’s solid stuff, possibly only outdone by its peer the Plenty – a real two-fister, with double the patty action and smoky bacon.

No question, these are the best burgers going on Plenty Road and surrounds. The menu features six regulars (two of which are vego) and two rotating specials alongside a couple of salads and a handful of sides. The 3072 burger spices things up with jalapenos and Sriracha 'slaw, while the Chicklette switches out the wagyu for a crisp-skinned chicken breast.

Most of the ingredients are locally sourced and the pickles are made in house. So how do they stack up against the rest of the city?

For our money, the pickles and the brioche buns tend to make the burgers skew a little sweet, but it’s really a matter of preference. We also double down on the sweetness with mandarin Jarritos soda and onion rings dusted in a sweet-smoky Old Bay spice like sugar-loving fools. Consider that a trap dodged and enjoy your burger with a beer from the neighbouring Racoon Club, open of an evening and at your service.
