A coffee superstar and a gun chef have joined forces to create a temporary hole-in-the-wall espresso bar with tasty eats
Tom Thumb is the brand new hole-in-the-wall espresso bar uniting the almighty coffee skills of Kris Wood (Clement Coffee Roasters) and the food expertise of mod-Brit chef Andrew Gale (Duchess of Spotswood, St Ali South).
If that doesn't excite you it should. These guys know what they’re doing, which means your milk is Schulz Organic, your cream-filled, jam-dolloped lamington is by ace pastry star Matt Forbes and your morning soundtrack is sweet, sweet jazz.
Get yourself a hot bit of crumpet slathered with plenty of butter (truffled or plain) and Gale’s extra pithy marmalade, and a toasted lamb sandwich whose contents won't end up on your pants. It's all about convenient one-handed eats here, so the sandwich sees slices of compressed slow roasted lamb and romesco sealed between browned buttery sourdough.
A few tables have just gone in upstairs, so you'll be able to stop and drop for a bowl of porridge, but we're all about taking Wood's own Pony blend (or rotating single estate) espresso to go, or leant against the bar, Italian styles. That coffee, unsurprisingly, is damn good too, whether you take it black, white or even skinny. You can't go wrong.
