Time Out says

Don’t be fooled by the Trainspotting-style entrance (there's no sign, look out for a dingy, graffiti covered door). Once inside and downstairs you’ll find an elegant dining room awaiting, so be brave and push on for some of the city’s best and most underrated Japanese fare.

Top value is the set lunch, a constantly changing menu at a steady price of $18 per person. You’ve a choice of five or so mains, perhaps delicately crisp fried tofu with a shitake dashi sauce or fresh sliced sashimi, all accompanied by a brothy soup, pickled vegetables and perfect rice (add $2 if you want it seasoned, a bit silly really). If it’s dinner in you’re after book early (and by early, we mean weeks in advance) for a spot near the central yakatori grill that sends out a steady stream of delectable skewered morsels until late(ish). Yu-u is notoriously publicity shy so no photos please. Yes, we do appreciate the irony of that sentence.
