Two of Melbourne’s best-known record stores became one in August 2010, when Record Collectors Corner (formerly on Swanston Street) moved its operations into the store of punk specialists Missing Link.
The first-level store now features stock from both businesses; with Missing Link’s range of new and used punk, hardcore and metal records and CDs complemented by Record Collectors Corner’s imports, classic titles and cheap music DVDs. There’s a great selection of Australian and in particular Melbourne acts, and it’s possibly the only place in town where you can go home with a record by hometown heroes Eddy Current Suppression Ring and some out-of-print and hard-to-find 1980s German metal.
Staff buy and trade at reasonable prices, and the store also sells imported music magazines, t-shirts and posters. Hawk-eyed shoppers can keep an eye on the weekly mail out (also available on the store’s Facebook page) which lists fresh titles.
