What was once an ordinary Victorian terrace house has been transformed into 'Das T-Shirt Automat', est. February 2013.
The people behind this red-and-white striped hole-in-the-wall on Johnston Street are here to make up a shirt design of your choice, so pull a stool up to the window and have a chat. You can supply them with your chosen image on a USB (.eps .ai .psd, etc) and they'll rustle up a shirt ($35), hoodie ($50), jumper ($50), tote ($20) or onesie ($30). Alternatively, you can buy one of the ready-made designs that excel in smart-arsery.
"We use a very fancy and modern process called DTG (Direct to Garment)," they say. "It’s basically textile ink sprayed directly onto the fabric, it’s supersoft and long lasting. You can iron it, you can spill gravy on it."
Whether you're after a tee for your bedroom band, or some variation on 'I'm with stupid' for that special night out, this is your pit-stop shop.
