It's a merry market Christmas at Queen Victoria Market
Queen Victoria Market, the grand dame of Melbourne markets, is open the three days in the lead up to Christmas Day from Thursday December 22 to Saturday December 24 so shoppers can beat the Christmas shopping rush. If you've left the shopping until the last minute, the market will be open until 9pm on Friday December 23.
Stock up for that Christmas Day feast and pick up your fresh fruit and vegetables, seafood, meat and of course the amazing deli goods from the market's famous deli hall. There will be plenty of last-minute gifts and bargains all over the market, and a Christmas Festival will spread festive cheer with live entertainment from the likes of The Choir of Hard Knocks, the Mic Macs, and Santa himself.
Pick up some new kitchen tricks and check out cooking demonstrations from ex-Master Chef contestants Emma Dean and Lynton Tapp. Stick around for the giveaways; there will be over $10,000 in prizes as well as $500 in market vouchers, which will be handed out every hour from 2pm onwards on December 23.
Come back for more market fun on December 27, where the upper market sheds will be open for a special trading day from 8am to 2pm. No produce will be available, but you can score a bargain on clothing, merchandise and more.
