Don't be discouraged by Jardan's brass Aussie animal door handle – there's nothing twee about what lies within. Behind its pale blue, Church Street exterior lies a shop that looks like the nicest houses you've ever been into. Primarily, Jardan specialises in furniture of the retro-scandinavian-mid-century modern variety, but does a neat line in accessories, homewares, linen and art.
Loosely, the lay out of the store mirrors the home (eg. one bit’s dedicated to the kitchen, another the bedroom etc), which makes things easy to find and the store easy to navigate.
Jardan’s on the spenny side, but everything has a whisper of luxury and opulence about it, without being vulgar or extravagant.
Things we love: Jardan’s own range of hand-poured, soy candles with wood wicks that crackle like an open fire when they’re burned; Lucy Folk’s kooky and colourful crochet jewellery (which you can also find at the NGV shop); clutches that look like old-school lucite beauties; long-line jugs, vases, sugar bowls etc that throw back to ’70s nordic homewares; the mint-quilted bed throw; and bowls in the jewel bright colours of ’60s anodised cups.
