Mat's Hot Shop might be a name that your taste buds recognise already. Launching in 2019 as an online store and since gaining a bit of a cult following, Mat's Hot Shop opened its first brick-and-mortar store in 2021 as well as Australia's first hot sauce tasting room in Collingwood.
Stocking some of the most innovative and exciting small-batch sauce makers, Mat's Hot Shop has somewhere between 100-150 hot sauces on its shelves at any one time. And they're not just Australian made, owner Mat says that the sauces they stock are "Predominantly from the US, but we also carry sauces from Mexico, Canada, Fiji, China and New Zealand."
With 150 flaming hot options, it's easy to get overwhelmed. The tasting room and the team are there to help you decide which sauce is for you. While you can try any sauce on the shelf, a word of warning, one wrong move and your taste buds may need days to recover. Tread carefully.
