Melbourne inner north is well known for its collection of quality op shops and secondhand stores, but there’s always room for one more. Recycled Delightful is a permanent indoor market that champions secondhand, handmade and environmentally conscious products.
Recycled Delightful is the masterpiece of Alex Castillo, who left a job in IT to open the market, following stints as both a stallholder at the Belgrave Emporium and as a manager at the Abbotsford Convent Makers Market.
The market has attracted about 20 stallholders (many of whom Castillo met at the Belgrave Emporium), selling everything from secondhand clothing and homewares to jewellery, LPs, memorabilia, art, ceramics, candles, natural beauty and bath products and plants. All items are either secondhand or handmade by the stallholder, with a focus on local and natural items. Recycled Delightful also welcome new stallholders if you’re a Melbourne maker.
The indoor market opened on March 11, 2020, just before the 2020 shutdowns started. Recycled Delightful used the time to regroup, even signing on a few more stallholders during the closure period, and is now open Wednesday to Sunday, with the goal of opening seven days a week soon.
