Everything you see in Scout House – a constantly rotating collection of new and vintage curios, objets d'art and designer homewares – is personally selected by owner Orlando Mesiti. An avid collector of fine things, Mesiti travels extensively in search of his next find, picking his way through the vintage markets of Paris, or visiting makers and artisans in Belgium, Holland and further afield.
Striking a deft balance between vintage and modern, practical and quirky, Scout House's St Kilda boutique houses recognisable brands like Pony Rider, Modernica and Stanley alongside one-off vintage pieces, often with a strong European influence owing to Mesiti's own Italian heritage.
“Scout House is all about personal service with authentic, properly made, ethical products that have provenance,” Mesiti says. “There’s nothing mass-produced here – everything has a story to tell and if I’d love to have it in my own home then I put it in my store.”
