For many, the festive season is a time spent with loved ones, sharing food and special moments, and watching reruns of comforting Christmas movies (Home Alone and Love Actually, we’re looking at you). But until those presents are safely tucked beneath the tree, the task of finding suitably special gifts for your friends and family can feel overwhelming.

Enter the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC), which helps to provide people seeking asylum with access to food, housing and healthcare, as well as legal aid, education and employment support.

This festive season, the ASRC wanted to make it easy for people to find gifts that do good, so they created an online shop packed full of ethically sourced goodies for your loved ones. 100 per cent of the proceeds from every purchase go directly towards empowering refugees and people seeking asylum to rebuild their lives. Because at the end of the day, the most important thing isn’t always what you give someone – it’s the meaning behind it.

From ethically sourced food to homewares, clothing and bespoke lifestyle products, the shop is filled with beautiful gifts in environmentally friendly packaging. Highlights include Melbourne-based illustrator Beci Orpin’s vibrant collection of tote bags, and bucket hats; Olana Janfa’s artwork ‘Journey to Freedom’, which represents the refugee journey, printed on T-shirts and tote bags; ASRC’s collaboration with Brisbane-based Hazara artist Razia Ghazal, which features gift wrapping and gift cards; spices, chutneys and jams made by the cooks at ASRC using their own traditional recipes; plus earrings, scarfs, puzzles, toys and more.

To receive your gifts before Christmas, place your order before December 14 with standard postage, or December 19 with express.

This Christmas, choose to shop at ethical businesses that are doing good in the world and make a difference. Shop the full range here.
