This September, travel back to the 12th century BCE at the Merlyn Theatre and witness the fall of Troy, up close and personal. But be careful what you wish for – this raw, powerful retelling of the ancient Greek myth will thrust you into the ruins of a fallen city, where war and violence are the only certainties, as civilisation teeters on the edge of collapse.
The highly anticipated production revisits the legendary Trojan War in all its brutal glory. Wright's powerful adaptation and Michael's evocative staging reinvent the legend of Troy in a fresh interpretation, delivering visceral scenes of epic battles and the emotional aftermath.
Seven powerhouse performers bring the myth to life. The cast of warriors, rulers and civilians includes Paula Arundell (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) in the role of Hecuba, Elizabeth Blackmore (Death of a Salesman) as Cassandra, Ciline Ajobong (Mustangs FC) as both Cressida and Iphigenia, Danny Ball (Loaded) as Apollo and Achilles, Geraldine Hakewill (Gaslight) as Clytemnestra, Lyndon Watts (Hamilton) as Patroclus and Helen of Troy, and Mark Leonard Winter (A Streetcar Named Desire) as Agamemnon and Hector.
Troy will run at Malthouse's Merlyn Theatre from September 4-25. Tickets are on sale now. For more information and to book, visit the Malthouse Theatre website.
