Theatre performer and poet Inua Ellams is set to bring his solo show Black T-Shirt Collection to the Melbourne Arts Centre as a part of the Big World, Close Up theatre series.
Black T-Shirt Collection tells the story of two Nigerian brothers who build a global fashion brand from their humble beginnings in Nigerian markets. Their shared empire takes them across the world from the bazaars of Cairo to the nightclubs of Europe, where the brothers tackle issues of migration, homophobia, faith and consumer culture. Through all this, their differences – one is a straight Christian, the other a gay Muslim – is overcome by their close bond.
Black T-Shirt Collection first premiered at the National Theatre of Great Britain where Time Out London gave it four stars.
