Time Out says

How far would you go to win the affections of the person you love? That's a question that comes up in the explosive dinner party that's the climax of this play by British playwright Mike Bartlett.

But before we get to this point, there's a surprising set-up. John has been in a long-term relationship with his boyfriend, and has identified as gay ever since he was a teenager. Things are comfortable. But suddenly, he meets a woman and falls madly and desperately in love with her. It seems John is going to have to make a decision.

The play premiered in London in 2009 with Ben Whishaw as John. In 2012, it moved to New York, where Time Out called the play a "sharp, blisteringly funny but also wrenching drama" in a four-star review.

This isn't the first time the play has been in this city – Melbourne Theatre Company had the Australian premiere back in 2014 – but this is a new, more intimate production directed by Beng Oh with Melbourne actors Matthew Connell, Shaun Goss, Marissa O'Reilly and Scott Gooding.
