Time Out says

Joel Bray melds performance, dance and conversation in his latest sugar-sweet show

We absolutely loved Joel Bray's last solo show, Biladurang, which was performed in a hotel room for a tiny audience. For his new show, he's moving back into a more traditional performance space but creating something equally evocative and immersive.

In Daddy, he gives space to his sweet tooth and exploring his craving for father figures. He looks back at his personal history and asks: why is he constantly chasing a sugar rush?

Expect plenty of laughs, dance, audience participation and an exploration of colonialism from the perspective of a Wiradjuri man, Bray.

Daddy was part of Yirramboi Festival in 2019 and returns to Melbourne for Midsumma in 2020. The production is directed by queer indie theatre stalwart Stephen Nicolazzo.
