Time Out says

This outdoor Fringe experience asks you to feel the rain on your skin

There are three certainties in life: death, taxes and that it will rain in Melbourne without little to no warning. A Rain Walk makes use of Melbourne’s famous penchant for spontaneous precipitation by turning rain showers into the stage for an audio experience. After premiering at Fringe in 2020, A Rain Walk is coming back for the 2021 festival.

The experience (which was originally commissioned by Dublin Fringe, another famously dreary city) asks you to go for a walk during the rain while listening to an audio track. While out on your rainy walk, voices of children from Australia and New Zealand will guide you to watch, listen, imagine and play in the rain.

The experience works like this: once you've bought your ticket you'll be sent a package which you must not open under any circumstances until it starts raining in Melbourne. Let's be honest, it probably won't take that long. Once it does start raining, open the parcel and enjoy the audio experience (the audio track will be digitally sent to you after booking). Keep in mind you will need a device to play sound (like a smartphone or MP3 player) to enjoy this work, and each ticket bought can be used by up to five people.
