Locals know that if you want a decent steak west of the Maribyrnong then there’s only one place to go. Station Hotel in Footscray is well known by westies for dishing out premium steaks – guests can choose grain-fed and grass-fed steaks spanning 450g bone-in New York strip steaks to 250g Sher wagyu rostbiff. The Station Hotel’s popularity means it’s time for an expansion though, with the hotel launching a brand new beer garden for punters to enjoy.

Station Hotel’s new beer garden is opening on Saturday, December 14 and to celebrate the pub is (naturally) throwing a big party. Head down from 3pm on the day to enjoy free canapés showcasing the new menu. A new menu? Indeed. While you’ll always be able to get a fab steak at the Station, you can now also get tasty bar snacks like Gruyère and caramelised onion arancini; pressed pork with crackling and baked apple; and lamb tomahawks served with pumpkin and rosemary dip (it’s basically Sunday roast in canapé form).

The team will also be firing up the barbie for the beer garden launch, with special menu items like Sher wagyu sausages, beer-braised brisket and dry-aged wagyu burgers available at various prices. All that food is sure to work up a thirst and luckily the Station Hotel’s new beer garden comes with plenty of beer. There are five brews on tap (four beers and a cider) plus tinnies from Two Birds, Hop Nation and Pirate Life, Edge of the World wines and a decent selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic options.

Station Hotel’s new beer garden launch party is on Saturday, December 14 from 3pm to 5pm. Entry is free and RSVPs are recommended. Visit the website for more info
