Time Out says

Even if you're not into AFL, the sheer excitement of the AFL Grand Final weekend is something worth experiencing. To help celebrate Melbourne's biggest annual sporting event, get involved with the free four-day AFL Footy Festival outside the MCG at Yarra Park. The festival brings together a huge range of activities including AFL player appearances, food and drink, kids' activities and giveaways.

Follow the Grand Final Parade to the festival on Friday, September 27 then kick back as Birds of Tokyo take to the stage for a live gig (they'll begin around 1pm). There will be an obstacle course and playground for kids (among other activities) while adults can relax at the Taste of Footy area where you can enjoy bites from the likes of Biggie Smalls, the Bearded Jaffle, Bluebonnet Barbecue, Som Som Candy, Mary and a Little Lamb and Taco Truck.

The Toyota AFL Grand Final Live Site will be the heart of the festival. Head to this area on Grand Final Day from 9am to watch the big game on a huge screen. You're going to be so close to the action you'll be able to hear the 100,000 strong crowd cheer on (we doubt there will be a free seat in the house).

The AFL Footy Festival is free to attend and is on every day from September 25 to 28.
