Time Out says

October in Daylesford means Artober, a celebration of art from the Daylesford and Hepburn Shire region. Now in its fourth year, Artober celebrates the creative community of the region with open studios, exhibitions and community events happening from October 5 until mid-November. Everyone from local artists, gallery owners, schools and neighbourhood groups are expected to get involved in events like a special film screening of Whiteley (a new documentary about the life of magnetic Australian artist Brett Whiteley) and Flora and Equine: an exhibition of Creswick-born artist Allan T Bernaldo.

The highlight of the arts celebration is the Daylesford Art Show which takes place over the Melbourne Cup long weekend (Thursday November 2 to Monday November 6). The art show has been running for 33 years and showcases hundreds of submissions from local artists. Prizes are awarded for best landscape, urbanscape, animalia, portrait or nude, abstract and still life.
