[Sponsored] Beta Bar is celebrating its 200th event with games, drink specials and a Nintendo giveaway
Since opening four years ago Beta Bar has held innumerable sessions of Rockband, Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart. While we don't know on how many times controllers have been button-mashed, we do know that Beta Bar is about to host their 200th event. And they're throwing a party to celebrate.
On Friday May 25 Beta Bar are throwing open their doors for a grand and geeky party. Drink, dance and put your gaming prowess to the test with a big night of games. Take part in the bar's "Betathon" where you'll compete in Beta Bar classics like Mario Kart, Joust, Smash Bros and Rockband for the chance to win your own Nintendo Switch console.
Costumes, as usual, are highly encouraged with guests invited to cosplay as whatever character they wish. There will be prizes available, and those dressed up will get $5 of entry as well so come dressed in your cosplay best. It's not a party without drinks either so Beta Bar are pulling out some drink specials like $5 basic spirits until 9pm, $5 pints of house beer, $8 pints of cider, $5 summer bright stubbies and themed cocktails and shooters.
Those looking to kick on after the Beta bash can head to Untz Untz for the official after party. Those with a Beta Bar entry stamp get free entry to the venue and there will be two-for-one drink specials between midnight and 1am.
Head over to the Beta 200 event page on Facebook to RSVP and you'll go into the draw to win a bar tab for the night. Beta 200 kicks off 6pm Friday May 25 at the Hawthorn Hotel. Tickets can be bought at the door for $15. Cosplayers and University and TAFE students can buy tickets for $10.
