Time Out says

The central hub that is Federation Square is set to come alive this Christmas

Fed Square is gearing up for a very merry Christmas this summer with kids activities, live performances on the big stage, and a huge Christmas bauble installation. See what is coming up at Fed Square over Christmas.

Our Christmas Gift - November 26

The fun kicks off in Fed Square at 5pm with stalls, face painting and live performances. Stick around to see a simulcast streaming of the Salvation Army Christmas concert Our Christmas Gift happening in Hamer Hall. The concert will be screened from 8-10.30pm. Featuring the likes of Silvie Paladino, Cameron Semmens, Deborah O’Toole and Kane Alexander, make sure you get in early and reserve a prime position.

Christmas Bauble - from November 29

On November 29 Fed Square will unveil its seasonal installation: a six metre high giant white bauble that will be on display for a month. City-goers are invited to enjoy the glittery exterior of the bauble as well as its interior by stepping inside the gigantic decoration that will glisten day and night.

Christmas Projection Show - November 29 - December 26

From 9pm-11pm every night for almost an entire month, a Christmas Projection Show will illuminate the Square walls. Visible from 9pm-11pm each night, you’ll be transported to the North Pole while remaining in the heart of Melbourne.

Koorie Krismas - December 11

Fed Square will see a visit from the Koorie Klaus this Koorie Krismas, who will bring along live music, decoration workshops and a Koorie Art Show. The Koorie Heritage Trust fund is bringing us ‘Krismas with a K’ for one day only, so head into the city for this afternoon of cultural activities from 1-4pm.

Fed Square’s Festive Fair – December 18

A drawcard for visitors is undoubtedly the live performances from the Choir of Hard Knocks and Gruppo Culturale Italiano Choir, as well as some of Melbourne’s best buskers. With market stalls, food trucks, African drumming and Christmas movies being displayed on the big screen, from 10am-5pm, there won’t be a dull moment!

Christmas Eve Concert – December 24
Christmas Eve is certainly no exception to the seasonal festivities taking place at Federation Square. Alongside DJ and comedian Fiona Scott-Norman, The Jingle Belles will perform a family-friendly Christmas concert to get everyone in the festive mood. Instead of rushing off at the end of the show, why not settle in and watch Carols by Candlelight on the big screen? Singing along is very strongly recommended.
