The sun is high in the sky and it’s your day off – don’t waste it inside bingeing Netflix. Make your way down to the river and hit up Riverland Bar and their summer pop-up Club Aperol. Throughout summer the casual-cool bar will be slinging Aperol Spritzes from the Club Aperol pop-up for $12 a glass and playing the Australian Open on their flatscreen.

The citrusy spritz is having something of a moment this summer (move over frosé!) as the favourite warm-weather tipple. A blend of bitter orange, rhubarb and botanicals the marmalade-hued drink is relatively sweet compared to other aperitifs – a healthy splash of bubbles and some fresh orange is all you need to turn it into an gold star spritz.

Accompanying this season’s favourite sunset-in-a-glass are Club Aperol’s spuntini selection. New to spuntini? They’re the bite-sized tasty treats traditionally paired with Aperol Spritzes in Italy. Think Italian tapas: buffalo ricotta and pickled zucchini crostini; white anchovies, gordal olives and guindillas (peppers); smoked cod and potato crostini and noix de jambon with pickled cucumber and melon. And the best part is they’re all $3. Grab them from Thursday to Sunday.

If your hunger is a bit more ‘main meal’ than ‘bite-sized’ you can also pick up a variety of platters, including a seafood platter with prawns, oysters and scallops ($38), an antipasto platter with prosciutto, burrata and warm flatbread ($26) and a cheese platter with three artisan cheeses, fig rolada and lavosh ($24).

Riverland Bar devotees already know how close the venue is to Rod Laver arena – meaning it’s also the ideal location for a pre- or post-match drink. Riverland know how much Melbourne loves the tennis so they’ll also be giving away Australian Open ground passes every day during the major sporting event. Check out Riverland Bar’s Instagram to find out more on how to win your tickets courtside. They'll also be playing all the action on the flatscreen, so you won't miss a thing.

Ready to start living la dolce vita this summer? Club Aperol is open at Riverland Bar from January 4 until February 19.
