Are artists naturally drawn to Daylesford or is there something in the water up there that makes everyone super artistic? Whatever the reason, Daylesford and its surrounding towns have a huge number of creatives. You can see them in action every year during the Daylesford and Macedon Ranges Open Studios.
Over three weekends in April-May, artists and craftspeople open their doors so that curious souls can observe painters, draftsmen, ceramicists, sculptors and more in their natural environment. This year there's a total of 23 different studios to visit, as well as a group exhibition open daily at Daylesford's Convent Gallery throughout the open studios period.
The 2018 DMROS has something for doodlers through to designers and highlights studios including Liz Archer (wearable art), Lawrence Finn (printmaking), Kathryn Portelli (mosaic), Anthony Vanderzweep (bronze sculpture) and Jeannine Hendy (ceramics).
