Time Out says

Tucked behind Melbourne Central, Embiggen Books is a space where critical thinking, reason and reading are nurtured and celebrated.

They stock swoon worthy art and coffee table books as well as a rotating range of the latest must read fiction and classics, but it’s the expansive popular science section that sets Embiggen Books apart.

Carefully designed like the library of your dreams, the shop features high ceilings and shelves complete with wooden ladders to aid your search. Despite the old world interior, the atmosphere is unpretentious, with owners and buyers Kirsty and Warren on hand most days to share advice.

Originally founded on the Sunshine Coast, Embiggen re-opened in Melbourne a few years ago and has since hosted guest speakers such as Nobel Prize winner Professor Peter Doherty, philosopher A.C Grayling and animal activist Dr Nicola Markus.
