Still looking for the perfect Mother's Day gift? Skip the supermarket slippers and sad bouquets this year and treat your mum to a day out at one of these great venues. There's something to suit every mum from fancy three-course meals, to traditional high teas and classic pub grub. Give a little back to the woman who gave you so much and book into one of these venues for Mother's Day.

Take Mum to Melbourne’s original gastropub O’Connell’s for a Mother’s Day high tea. The historic pub is hosting a high tea with all your sweet and savoury favourites as well as a complimentary glass of bubbles. Sample tasty tea treats like mini BLTs, cucumber sandwiches, chocolate truffles, peanut butter and jam eclairs and of course scones with jam and cream. The picturesque South Melbourne pub will be offering high tea between 3-5pm on Mother’s Day and they’re also doing lunch bookings between noon and 2.30pm. $55 per person.

Your mum has probably bought you countless meals – it’s time to return the favour. Make a booking at the Middle Park Hotel’s restaurant this Mother’s Day and celebrate your mum with a delicious three-course menu. Start with a shared entrée before tucking into your choice of main – try the grass-fed porterhouse steak or pigeon ballotine. Finish with an apple tart and salted caramel semifreddo, a dish just as sweet as your mum. There’s a vegetarian menu available too and after lunch you can take Mum for a stroll along the nearby beach. $75 per person.

Footscray’s Station Hotel is very good at two things: cooking tasty, French-inspired meals and throwing great Mother’s Day lunches. Book in for lunch at the Station Hotel for a two-course meal and a complimentary glass of Pol Roger Champagne for mum. There are gluten free and vegetarian options available for each course, with the menu featuring dishes like truffle risotto, eye fillet with charred greens and chocolate fondant. You can even get vegan options on request. $75 per person.

Looking for somewhere to treat your mum in Melbourne’s east? The Auburn Hotel has got you covered on Mother’s Day with both their à la carte and Sunday roast menus available. Warm up with a hearty roast lunch or get a pub classic like the Auburn’s chicken parma or Sher Wagyu beef burger. The hotel is even throwing in a little Mother’s Day gift – a free glass of sparkling for every mum eating there on the day. Standard menu prices apply.

Skip breakfast in bed and start mum's special day with Mimosas and brunch instead. The Exchange Hotel in Port Melbourne is hosting a two-hour Mother's Day brunch including rosé, Aperol Spritz, orange and mango Mimosas, house wine and schooners of select beer. Plus menu items like baked Spanish eggs, quiche, poached ocean trout salad and sweet or savoury crêpes. There are two sittings (11am-1pm and 1.30-3.30pm) and bookings are essential. Alternatively you can treat Mum to a Sunday roast with all the trimmings from noon. Brunch $50 per person, lunch $20 per person
