If you haven't heard of the Gelinaz, it is a world-wide event which involves 138 chefs hand-chosen by Andrea Petrini, who participate in a synchronised culinary swap that is designed to broaden the horizons of chefs, challenge the way they think about food and also offer us an exciting, one-off event that we can attend.
In the past, the chefs have all swapped restaurants and physically crossed continents and cooked in kitchens that are not their own. This year, they're staying put and cooking their interpretation of a 'matrix' (a set of eight recipes) that has been sent to them by another participating chef.
Victor Liong, from the modern-Chinese diner, Lee Ho Fook, is one of the handful of Australian chefs participating in this year's Gelinaz on December 3. We hear that he has received a set of 'futuristic Korean recipes' which will force him to ditch his comfort zone of Cantonese, Yunnan and Sichuan flavours.
As the menu is a complete secret, and the participating chef is under pressure to create the best eight-courses possible, we can't tell you what Liong is serving, only that it will be a deliciously exciting reveal and a whole lot of fun.
Tickets are priced in Euros and purchasable here. Prices will fluctuate according to when you buy them, which is at a fixed cost of 70 Euros, which is approximately $115 Australian dollars.
