Time Out says

What is up to 26 years old, has a lovely honey coloured complexion and an urge to travel?

The distilleries featured in Baranows Emporium's Independents Day celebrations. The one day rare whisky tasting festival gives the public a chance to try one-off bottlings from all over the world, including nips from now-defunct distilleries.

When it comes to mainstream whisky production, consistency is key. But Independents Day will celebrate the outliers, those special casks that highlight a taste that’s unique and never to be repeated. Some of the bottles being sampled are so rare, they sell for $550 a pop. These exclusive spirits will be served alongside food by Masterchef’s Sam Gant.

Here’s the line-up of independent bottlers exhibiting:

Adelphi
Gordon & MacPhail
The Ten
Michel Couvreur
New World Projects
Heartwood
Signatory
Scotch Malt Whisky Society
Berry Bros.
Rest & Be Thankful Whisky Co.

There’s never been an event like this in Australia before. So if you like your whisky, and want to try a whole new expression, this is your dram.
