As the days grow shorter and the air turns crisp, there’s still plenty of reason to stay out and soak up the season. Autumn in Whitehorse is all about making the most of the remaining sunshine, with twilight markets, Easter egg hunts, lively festivals, comedy nights, exhibitions and a jam-packed program of theatre.

Here are 6 fun things to do in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs this autumn.

6 fun events across Whitehorse

With the days still stretching into the evening, there’s no better excuse to enjoy some leisurely after-dark shopping and dining than at Whitehorse’s Twilight Markets. Held across Fridays and Saturdays, the inaugural markets in Box Hill and Mitcham will come alive with a showcase of local traders. Box Hill is known for its thriving food scene, where you can sample some of the suburb's best dishes from local vendors, alongside live entertainment. Catch Box Hill Twilight Market on March 14 and April 11, and Mitcham Twilight Market on March 20 and April 17. Entry is free, with markets running from 5-9pm.

Across the year, Nunawading’s state-of-the-arts performing venue, The Round, is delivering an impressive line-up of touring theatre, comedy, cabaret and circus. For its 2026 season, A Colourful Life, The Round is offering $30 tickets for under-30s across 15 unmissable shows. Step into the dazzling world of Stephen Sondheim with Colour & Light: The Art of Sondheim; experience a circus-gone-wild at Primal; book in for the smash-hit Britney Spears – The Cabaret, a touching and satirical take on the perils of fame; and catch the boundary-pushing Grimm, where fairytale characters are not quite as you remember them. Catch big touring productions without the CBD crowds at this easy-to-reach venue, just a ten-minute walk from Nunawading station.

The laughs are coming to Nunawading in a big way this Autumn when the Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow stops at The Round for one night only on April 22.

The venue’s 2026 comedy lineup also includes Stephen K Amos’ new show Now We’re Talking on April 19, alongside Aussie favourite Lehmo’s all-new Campervan Go!, a Lampoon-esque holiday from hell that recently sold out at Adelaide Fringe.

A rotating line-up of comedians curated by veteran comedy programmer Janet A McLeod rounds out the bill.

This free, intimate exhibition brings together 53 emerging and established artists from across Victoria, celebrating the creative possibilities of contemporary printmaking. Featured artists include Vivienne Adeney, Patricia Agus, Jim Pavlidis, Rosalind Atkins, Kyoko Imazu and more. Irrepressible: Exchanging ideas through printmaking opens on March 21 and runs until May 16 at Whitehorse Artspace, Box Hill Town Hall.

Culture Fest is back for one day only on Sunday, March 22, bringing a vibrant program of dance, live performances and hands-on activities for all ages. This free community event is taking over Strathdon House and Orchard Precinct, transforming the historic grounds into a multicultural showcase. Wander the grounds, meet local cultural groups and discover everything from traditions to languages and foods from around the world.

There’s a lot to love about the four-day Easter long weekend. Whether it's all about cracking into a choccy egg or entertaining the little ones, Whitehorse is hosting a slew of Easter egg hunts so you can do both. Taking place across multiple venues, including the historic Schwerkolt Cottage and Strathdon House, The Round and Box Hill Community Arts Centre, book your kids in for a 20-minute hunt and let them loose as they track down chocolate eggs.
